    • Thanks, Dan, for all the work you've done through the years to make iAntique the premier social network site for the antiques community. The home page looks great to me, and I'll work my way through the other pages later today. I'm really looking forward to the release of the mobile app, as I find that I'm using my tab for access more than I do the desk top. How do overall views break down between mobile & desk top? Gary

    • We've implemented a new, cleaner site design in preparation for the upcoming release of our mobile app.   We will continue to make adjustments to improve the speed.

      What do you think?

    • We're sporting a fresh new look!

We've trimmed out some of the parts of the design that would slow down many pages from loading quickly.

      What do you think?

    • This is nothing new. Other online sites I have sold at have experienced the same problems. Da, glad you are trying to keep the jerks out. They also do this on Craigslist and every other place out there. Sometimes they will use money order, or even PayPal.

    • What this guy attempts to do is a scam that started a couple years ago.

They contact a seller interested in buying an item and offer to send a certified check.  They also ask to send additional money to give to give to a 'shipper'.  The certified check arrives and the seller deposits it, then someone arrives to pick up the item and the seller gives them cash to handle the shipping.

Several days later, the seller discovers that the cashiers check is worthless and they have no money and no item.

The scammers work under the idea of urgency, so the seller will act fast.

I was involved in one of these transactions where the certified check arrived, we contact the account holder of the check and was told that they get a dozen phone calls a day from people that get the same thing.

    • Yesterday, a person sent several of our classifieds sellers emails to fraudulently offer to buy their item.

We have tightened the controls against this weakness.

We are also looking at some other changes to how the classifieds operate.

Thanks for everyones report about the spammer.

    • Improved the functions of the Fourms, Groups, Videos and Events.

The upgrades allow users to more easily interact with others.  Cool Chatting

I think one of the best improvement is the ability to upload photos in the forums.  We live in a visual world these days where users expect discussions to have pictures.

Let us know of any problems you find.

    • We've just installed an upgrade to the front page activity feed.  It allows for easier viewing of the content you're interested in.

I do notice that it has caused the over speed of the slight to slow down.  Working to bring that back up.

This upgrade also allows you to have your Facebook activity feed on a tab on the main page.

    • Dan, you've done a superlative job getting the best social networking site for the antiques trade off the ground & running. It's been a remarkable 2 years, and I don't think any of us around back then imagined that we would have come this far, this fast. Congratulations, and best of luck with the new mall in Arizona! You'll bring the same qualities that made you so successful here to the new venture. Carol & I will drop in some time. Who knows, you might have some bargains there that rival the bargains in Denver. Gary

    • I think it is pretty exciting and yeah Dan! Got your back! Actually, I'm pretty excited with some of the changes that have come naturally to iAntique - with more people getting involved and sharing not only their knowledge but their love of this business. 2012 is going to be an exciting year all the way around and I'm thrilled with all the new members and how their knowledge and experience is adding to the quality and the give and take that seems to becoming rampant on iAntique...Woo Hoo!

      Okay, so I'm a bit excited but then...hey, that's ME :)

    • Hello iAntique folks,

This is Dan, one of the founders. I wanted to pass along some very exciting news: I've accepted a job to open a new Brass Armadillo Antique Mall in Goodyear, Arizona.

The mall will be over 46,000 square feet and have room for more than 700 dealers. It should open in early March.

Online social networking and social media will be an important focus of this new antique mall.

Nothing will change here. Myself, Daye, and a bunch of other regular iAntique members are generally around, having good chats and talking about collecting. It's exciting to see the sharing of information between everyone.

I want to assure you that the momentum behind continues to be strong and we're growing quickly (now over 5,400 members).

It's also important to point out that is open to anyone; dealers, collectors, appraisers, antique stores, antique malls.  We have a strong presence in the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall chain, however we're very interested in working with other malls / stores.  We provide marketing materials to help get dealers and customers excited about antiques and collectibles.

We continue to try various approaches to bringing together collectors and welcome ideas to improve If you have thoughts, suggestions or comments, we would love to hear them. Write me directly at:

See you in the chatroom soon.

    • I would love to be able to pin point where a dealer might be especially as Daye stated to see if they might be close to your destination!
