Did you know that up til 1982 the highest price ever paid at auction for an antique or collecitible was for a book--an 11th century illuminated manuscript. Since then, everybody has wanted to buy paintings, but the prices of collectible books have also continued to soar. In this episode of the Gary Stover Hour we discuss first editions, antique & modern, of collectible books. Topics will include: limited editions, signed by author books, first printings or impressions, bindings, condition as it affects value, terminology, how age affects value, which 18th & 19th century publishers to look for, how to determine whether what you're looking at is a true first, etc.
