Victor Talking Machines

  • In this week's program we'll highlight examples of Victor Talking Machines, or Victrolas, made between 1901 & 1929. These non-electronic acoustical record players sometimes had external horns, sometimes internal. They came in a great variety of styles, cabinets, and woods, and they are all very collectible. You may be surprised to see how valuable even those in poor condition sometimes are (not all, but some). We'll discuss the labels and how sometimes the serial numbers can be clues to dating (but not always!) With the current great interest in early vinyl, these record players have remained in strong demand. Please watch this website or YouTube for this week's show, which will be uploaded in a few days.
