1830-1850: A Time of Transition

  • I think the period from 1830 to 1850 captures a change in attitude from formality to eclecticism, from the simplicity of the Regency period to the historicism of the Victorian age. In tomorrow night's show I'll highlight some pieces currently in inventory that demonstrate that transition. We'll look at French, English, and American furniture of the period; pewter, brass, & Sheffield plate; pottery; see some examples of how changing technology influenced design, including some early photography. Hope you can join in the chat at the usual time, Tuesday at 5PM PDT, 6PM MDT, 7PM CDT, 8PM EDT. Gary
